2004 "1979" Diesel Gala, Barrow Hill

Galleries: (choose from the list)

Barrow Hill's 2004 diesel gala, on 10th-11th July, was themed around the BR open days of the late 1970s and early 1980s. The roundhouse was turned over to (mostly) BR Blue diesels. Whilst our AC fleet did not feature very strongly, our members' restoration skills were put on show in the form of two ex-works Class 73s, 73119 and 73138, which operated shuttle services throughout the weekend.

The final touches were applied to 73138 on the Friday evening before the gala. The large numbers and paintwork details were applied in the yard.

73119 spent the weekend at one end of the "big" shuttle, resplendent in BR Blue.

73138 shared duties at the other end of the "big" shuttle with various visiting locos.
